Michael grew up in Halifax where he spent his childhood playing football and ski racing at a national level. He pursued his passion for football and education during his undergrad at Mount Allison University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce. Following his undergrad, he pursued a career as a professional alpine ski coach in Ontario. He obtained his Juris Doctor from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University. He continues to coach skiing for the Wentworth Ski Race Club and serves as the Technical Director for Ski Nova Scotia. His interests outside the office include mountain biking, kitesurfing and skiing with his dog Bode.
