Aodhan Murphy

Aodhan Murphy is a Managing Partner at Mike Murphy Law Group. He sits in both the Criminal Division and the Civil Division and practises from the Halifax office.

Aodhan Murphy Tried the Largest Personal Injury Award in Atlantic Canada

Aodhan acts for injured people in car accident and other personal injury claims. He also defends people charged with criminal offences. His most recent trial ran nine days. The decision, Allen v Doiron, 2026 NBKB 049, is the largest personal injury award in the history of Atlantic Canada. It is among the highest in recent years anywhere in the country.

Acadia, UNB and the APTLA Board

Aodhan took his Bachelor of Arts at Acadia University and his law degree at the University of New Brunswick, where he won the Barry Morrison Prize in Legal Writing. He came back to Nova Scotia after his J.D.

At school he sat on the Law Students’ Society and on the UNB and Acadia Students’ Unions, and he worked in political organizations in both provinces. Today he sits on the APTLA Board of Directors as Chair of the New Lawyers’ Section and on its Education Committee. He has presented at conferences across Atlantic Canada on new issues in civil litigation.
