Lawyer

Biography

Michael Byrne is a Halifax-native litigator at Mike Murphy Law Group, representing clients across New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Admitted to both provincial bars in 2023, his practice is dedicated to standing up for individuals in complex disputes.

Thanks to the firm’s collaborative and fast-paced culture, Michael has rapidly gained intensive, hands-on experience in insurance litigation—including motor vehicle accidents, property loss, and denied disability or critical illness claims—as well as employee-side employment law, advocating for individuals facing wrongful dismissal and human rights violations. Equipped with these practical tools, he fights relentlessly to achieve the best possible resolution for every client.

Michael earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Mount Allison University before completing his law degree at Dalhousie University’s Schulich School of Law. Michael grew up an avid competitive athlete, ski racing at a national level and playing football up to the collegiate level. Between university degrees, he spent six years coaching alpine ski racing professionally at an international level. Thanks to this background, Michael
brings intense competitive tenacity, discipline, and a strategic mindset to his legal practice. Outside the office, he remains deeply connected to the sports community, coaching provincial-level ski racing and consulting for Ski Nova Scotia. In his free time, Michael enjoys mountain biking, kitesurfing, skiing, spending time with family, and getting outdoors with his black lab.
